Family owned and managed since 1888, Schoeneman’s Building Materials Center has provided the Sioux Empire with the most knowledgeable staff and a vast selection of products in the home building industry for over 125 years.
Providing a convenient and exceptional experience for the customer has always been at the core of our business. Before family cars were common, we had twenty locations with stores only ten miles apart to accommodate customer needs. Now that our customers aren’t arriving via horse and wagon, Schoeneman’s has a four convenient locations: Sioux Falls, SD, Harrisburg, SD, Hawarden, IA, and Spencer, IA.
1888
Schoeneman Bros. Co. was founded in Walnut, Iowa.
1912
Bought a location on 8th Street in downtown Sioux Falls, SD.
1940s
Schoeneman’s operated more than 20 locations.
1957
Downtown Sioux Falls Floods in June
1976
Opened new store location on Western Avenue in Sioux Falls, SD.
1999
Schoeneman’s builds the Andersen Windows Showroom, becoming a designated center of excellence for Andersen Windows.
2009
Opened a new store location in Harrisburg, SD.
2016
Schoeneman’s implements the Employee Stock Option Program.
2021
Rebuild Spencer, IA store and warehouse retail 10k sq/ft and warehouse 20k sq/ft
